Wrap Tips for New Years!

WRAP TIPS FOR NEW YEAR'S!

With the New Year right around the corner, here are some fast quick tips to get you going. For example, many people have New Year's parties at their homes, rather than going out, so if you're invited to someone's house this New Year's here is a wonderful idea for you!

Using a basket of any size at all, it all depends what you would like to put in it...fill it up with all kinds of snacks, like chips, dip, nuts, etc. using our wine bags, purchase a bottle of wine or champaigne, set that in the basket and wrap with our large basket bags, some festive ribbon and some tulle, and tada, and instant New Year's basket that is quick and easy to make. :-)

Want to get a little more themed to fit the New Year's motto?

Purchase another basket or use a plastic margarita glass, add some cocktail mixes that are pre-packaged, a cocktail shaker, (small one) A booklet on making cocktails, two stirrers, two blow horns, and anything else that you can think of to fit this particular theme. You can also add some mixed nuts. Here you have an instant beautiful gift to give to someone for New Year's!

Using our New Year's bag or any other cello bag like the Silver Star, Gold Star, etc, cut the bottom off the bag for the Margarita cup, and tie on top with tulle and ribbon! Tape the bottom of the bag to the cup using clear tape. If using a basket then anyone of our bags will do without cutting anything. :) This is quite unique, and you can be sure not many will receive this one at their New Year's gathering! :)

Happy New Year!!

New blog!

I decided to start a new blog today. This one is more general, about my life and my life as a rep. You can find it at Rep On The Run. I'm hoping to be more comfortable with posting more general content as it relates to life in general and life as a rep, for whichever company I may decide to talk about that day!

It's up and running, but I do have a lot of work to do on it. I have to get some content on there and get all the proper links, etc. working. So bear with me. I will be adding some stuff, hopefully later on today, about Derek Jeter's Driven - his new line by Avon.

Hope to see you there!

Avon Calling

As some of you may know, I have recently signed on to be an independent AVON sales rep. Some of you may also know that I have been with various other direct sales companies in the past. So far my experience with Avon has been great! The response has been wonderful! I hate to use the cliche line "the products sell themselves," but they really do!

I have had friends and family ask me for a book, rather than just rolling their eyes as they have done in the past when I told them my latest venture! It's great to be a part of a company that people know and love. A much better feeling than trying to peddle products people clearly don't know or want!

So far I have done much better with this than with most of the other direct sales companies combined. I say most, as I have also had a wonderful experience with Cello in a Box. It's just a different market than Avon.

I'm looking forward to getting this business off the ground and running. I love the products, I love the company and I think this will be a lot of fun!

QOTW How are you getting ready for the busy holiday season?

QOTW How are you getting ready for the busy holiday season?
What steps will you be taking to get your home business or blog ready for the holiday shopping season?

This question comes at a great time! I have recently signed with Avon to be a representative. My goal for the holiday season is to get my name out there, get catalogs out there and let people know what I am doing! I think the holiday season is a great time to jump start a business! There are plenty of people out there looking for gifts. If you give them what they are looking for and great customer service, they will come back!

I hope to get a few packets of information together soon. I want to include a catalog and samples if possible. I be sending this out to all the people I can think of. Hopefully they will see something they like or think someone would like as a gift and place an order!

My very short term goal is learning. I need to go through the training process and learn as much as I can about our products, our service, and everything else about being an Avon Rep! I can’t wait to get started on that, I’m very excited about this opportunity!

I would also like to post more to my blog. Since I am getting into a company with a WIDE variety of products, I will have a great basis for content. As I learn more about the products, I would love to share them with my readers and let everyone know what we have to offer.

So, I obviously have a lot of preparation to do. I better get off my tush and start working on it!

Best Companies for Working Mothers

I was very happy to see that such a list exists. Unfortunately I do not work for any of these companies! There are many lucky women that do!

The complete list with all the details can be found at Working Mother . I saw the list on Yahoo's News site . Its nice to see so many familiar companies on the list! I was completely suprised to see Avon on the list. Avon is another direct sales company that I have looked into signing with. I think that says a lot about a company. Its very refreshing to see a direct sales company on the list. All too often they receive negative attention. Avon is clearly a well-run, established company that any woman should feel comfortable working with.

Some of the companies on the list, I have not heard of until now. I will shop a lot happier with most of these companies knowing that they treat working mothers so well!

WAHM Bloggers Network - QOTW

The WAHM Bloggers Network that I belong to does a Question of the Week (QOTW). This is the first time I have seen this, so here goes nothing!

Which TV mom are you most like and why? Are you more like June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver or Rosanne?

Well I can tell you right off the bat that I am NO June Cleaver! Not even close. As a matter of fact, I would much rather have my hubby have dinner waiting on the table for ME when I get home! I do think I am a mixture of more than one TV mom.

I would love to be Claire Huxtable. She was a poised, classy, professional woman, who still had the time/desire to have a big and loving family. I would love to have her grace and wit. Like Claire, I am a professional woman. I have a career and a family, and I have the grace and talent to do both.

I have a little bit of Roseanne Connor in me as well. I definitely am most like her in body type! Yikes! I can also relate to her abrasive sense of humor. I think that runs in my family as well!

Mostly though, I feel like Debra Barone and I are living parallel lives! I think we are on the same insanity level! I do think my husband has a little more sense in his head than Ray Barone though! Here are just a few of our similarities:
  • My inlaws live right down the street. They are my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, instead of my parents-in-law, and we get along great.
  • There have been quite a few episodes though that hit a little close to home! Down to the fact that my husband is from New York and I am from Pennsylvania - so while Robert and Amy were dating/getting married, there were a lot of NY/PA jokes!
  • Many of the golf episodes reminded me a lot of my husband.
  • The interaction with her husband and mother-in-law gave us plenty to laugh about, and I sometimes wondered if my husband was secretly writing for the show!

I think it is great to have role models and/or comic relief. I think it is better though, to be yourself and pave your own way. Eventually the series ends, but life goes on...

Meet Me Monday! - Candle Artist Jfay

Have you been to myspace? I spend a lot of time over there. Actually, I'm becoming borderline addicted! I can't seem to stay away for any great lengths of time. I actually find myself "making" time to go to the site.

It's okay though, I have met many great people over there and have seen some great businesses. I have a site for personal use and one for business networking over there.

I would love to introduce you to some of the wonderful people I have met over there. Perhaps I'll introduce you to one a week. I'll call it "Meet Me Monday!"

Let's start with Candle Artist Jfay. She has some of the most gorgeous candles I have ever seen there. You have to see them. There is video of her making them as well. All of her candles are handmade. She can do custom candles, you can also choose the scent you would like to have.

Check out her myspace, Candle Artist Jfay or her website. This lady has a real talent for candlemaking!

Aspirations

So in exploring this new realm of blogging, I have been looking at MANY other blogs! I have to tell you there is some fantastic stuff out there! I have seen quite a few blogs that have left me wanting to get up and go, find fun things to do, so that I could have a blog as interesting as those that I have seen! I aspire to have such intriguing things to say!

The world is full of great stories. I am a reader. I will read book after book, not putting one down until I have finished. This means losing sleep as I stay up half the night thinking to myself, just one more page, with the turn of every new page. Quite simply I love to read!

Today I came across a site called BlogExplosion. This site will be the death of me. I have been reading blogs non-stop since I found this site. Non-stop, can't stop. I fear if I walk away now, the MOST interesting blog may be next and I will have missed it if I stop reading. So I keep going.

I'm back to BlogExplosion before I miss something!

My intro to blogging!

I decided to step up my promotion of my Cello In A Box business. I have been searching online for ways to do just that. During my searches I have come across many things that have pointed towards blogging. I LOVE being on the computer, I LOVE talking about what I do, so what could be better than blogging? Well, here I am. Lucky you.

I've never blogged before so have some patience as I put on my learning hat and stumble through this new realm. I have logged MANY hours online, chatting, networking, on message boards and in groups. Blogging can't be that different. Well, maybe it can. I don't usually have conversations with myself, so this will be interesting to say the least.

Now I'm off to sit down with myself and gather our thoughts, as we have a lot to talk about! Hope you are ready to listen!
